Boys going into the 1st through the 5th grade are eligible to be members of the Cub Scouts.

The cost for membership in our pack is around $60 (give or take) and then the uniform itself.  The uniform required by our pack is slightly less than standard -- we require the shirt, belt, neckerchief and slide (like a bolo) as well as the handbook. There are also patches that go on the uniform.  Total cost can be between $50 - $75 depending on how much extra stuff is desired.  The shirt (and patches) and belt will be used from 1st grade to 3rd grade, so buy it slightly large.  The neckerchief and slide will change with each rank.  Hats are pretty popular, but not required.

Pack Meetings –  Our pack (all Cub Scouts combined together) meets on the 3rd Thursday of every month between September and May.  We usually meet at Bear Creek Community Center from 7:00pm to 9:00pm.  This pack meeting allows all dens to get together to share what they have done over the previous month.

Den Meetings –  Dens (grouping of boys of the same age – Tiger, Wolf, Bear, Webelo I and Webelo II) usually meeting 2-3 times per month according to the Den leader’s schedule.  The den meetings usually occur during the daytime because of our home-school schedule.

Summer Activities –  The Dens do not meet during the summer months (June – August).  We feel that it is still good to have the pack meet in an informal atmosphere so that the boys can maintain and develop relationships.  These summer activities are a fun and educational opportunity for the boys.

Day Camp –  Day camp is an opportunity for the boys to learn lots of different skills.  This week long event is volunteer run and allows the boys to earn belt loops and pins for several activities.

Pine Wood Derby –  Start with a block of wood and some wheels and let the kids use their imagination to design and build a car to be raced.  This fun event allows the kids to work hands on building the car and then compete against themselves and others in several categories.

Blue and Gold – The Blue and Gold event is our celebration of all of the awards that they Boy Scouts have attained during the year.  At this meeting all of the boys have attained the rank that they have worked on throughout the year.

Scout Fair – This is a big event that brings together all packs from the Houston area to Reliant Arena.  This is a great opportunity to see what other packs are doing and to earn additional belt loops.

Popcorn Sale –  The Cub Scouts sell Trails-End popcorn during the fall in order to fund our pack for the year.  This activity teaches the boys how to communicate and develop independence as they help earn money for the pack.

Camping –  Our pack typically has two campouts a year in the Fall and Spring from Friday evening until Sunday morning.  These campouts are not just for the Cub Scouts but for the whole family.  We cook group meals, participate in planned activities, earn belt loops, enjoy a nighttime program and worship together on Sunday morning.

Crossover –  This is a special pack meeting in which our Webelo II Cub Scouts complete their requirements and enter the fun and exciting world of Boy Scouts.
